The Spearhead Falls: Why All MRM Sites Must Disappear

via Eradica

Bill Welmer -- UnderWELMing
The most popular MRA site has gone away. Welmer closed it in December of 2014. His stated reason is that he had to spend more time with his wife and kid.

At one point, SWAT had come to Bill’s house to take his child. He looked out the window and saw a dozen SWATzis in black ninja/burglar gear with assault rifles. He did not have any anger at this, or at the men paid to intimidate. Moderation was always his problem.

He kicked off all WNs from his sites. Such is the true value of American tolerance and freedom of speech.

An associate of ours once said that all …..….single issue movements must fail. The MRM, PUA, WN, libertarianism and so on are all just facets of the same art. The effort needed to change just one of these is equal to the effort of total revolution. Everything must change at once.

Being a PUA or MRA alone is not enough. Even WN alone does not encompass all of the areas of the red pill. White men have to be aware of modern marriage and how to take a woman properly.

Even Roosh seems to be making a retreat from PUA. Even for a mino, it is too small a subject to spend one’s life in. The MRM is now 20 years old. Most of the best material has already been written. Similar with PU.

White men are upset. THEY are the primary followers of PUA, MRM, HBD, WN and libertarianism. It has never been a better time to be a mino or a woman. In time, all of these subjects must come together and become one. The longer it takes for the revolution to take place, the more radical the difference from today.

Do You Bite Your Thumb at Us, Sir?

via The Kakistocracy

I didn’t know whether I wanted to blog on this story, or immigrate to a more productive hobby than blogging. While that decision remains aloft, I’ll compromise and a draft a brief expression of wonder at what has to be the most bizarre story I’ve read in some time.

In it, a jewish female race vampire–imagine a sort of ersatz Tim Wise without the paunch, penis, or goodwill toward white people–vacates her already interracial marriage to take up with a palsied and mute black invalid 11 years her junior. Sounds copacetic. Though since her paramour didn’t possess the cognitive capacity of the cucumbers that preceded his entry into her vaginal canal, he was judged incapable of rendering sexual consent. Thus compelling authorities to seek legal relief, specifically in the form of a First Degree Felony Sexual Assault indictment. A charge she was subsequently convicted of and now awaits sentencing. There could be no greater joy.
But first some background. Let’s begin with Juliet.
Marjorie Anna Stubblefield goes by her middle name, pronounced with an aristocratic a, as in the word ‘‘nirvana.’’ Her last name is her former husband’s. Years ago, she was Margie McClennen, an honors student who grew up Jewish in the nearly all-white town of Plymouth, Mich. ‘‘I was raised to believe that I have the responsibility of tikkun olam, repairing the world,’’ Anna wrote in her 2005 book ‘‘Ethics Along the Color Line.’’
And Ms. Tikkun took her Olam very seriously indeed. What follows is a brief sampling of her ruminations on just who it is that requires a severe repairing.
Our world is in shambles. White supremacy is central to this state of affairs, and we cannot repair the world without ending it.
Even in well-intentioned quests to be antiracist, white people all too often invade or destroy the space of nonwhite people.
Whites elites devised measures of I.Q. as both a rationalization and a tool of anti-black oppression.
It is crucial to wrestle with the horrors and conundrums of whiteness.
Well the jury elected to wrestle instead with the conundrums of sexually predating crippled black vegetables. And that’s another horror of whiteness she didn’t even mention.

So who was this Billy Dee Williams of B. rapa?
D.J. is impaired: His cerebral palsy leaves him prone to muscle spasms in his face, his neck, his torso and his arms and hands…it’s hard for him to stay in one position, muscle contractions sometimes twist his spine and clench his fingers in a useless ball…he has trouble making eye contact and keeping objects fixed in view…he wears diapers and cannot dress himself…he can walk only if someone steadies him, otherwise he gets around by scooting on the floor…D.J. screams when he’s unhappy and chirps when he’s excited, but he can’t control his vocal cords…at 35, D.J. has never said a word.
So DJ’s guardians delivered him to the tender care of Ms. Stubblefield who, in addition to her meanderings on white malfeasance, was also an avid practitioner of a ludicrous debunked Ouija board procedure called “Facilitated Communication.” In this, a facilitator grasps the arm or finger of a future boyfriend and maneuvers it to spell whatever message the quack pretends to divine. There is some perverse pride to be taken from a society so dissolute that such manure could actually be served for consumption. At any rate, the image below depicts a session (not our star-crossed lovers) in mid charlatanry.

What's this your typing Billy? "If I profane with my unworthiest hand This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this: My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss" Oh I swoon!
What’s this you’re typing Billy?
“If I profane with my unworthiest hand
This holy shrine, the gentle fine is this:
My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready stand
To smooth that rough touch with a tender kiss”
Oh Billy I swoon!
So after DJ composed a series of sonnets via FC, he and Anna announced their intention to elope to his dumbfounded mammy, who subsequently took notice of their sunny shenanigans to the po-po. All of which culminated in a woman weeping more lavishly over her impending prison sentence than even the state of white supremacy. It was that bad.

And while we invaders, destroyers, and horrors are to remain at least momentarily at-large, Anna Stubblefield, alas, will not.

For never was a story of more woe than this.

Another Obscured Mistletoe

via Vinland Heritage

Today I will introduce you to a tree parasite just as important as the mistletoe for the pagans living close to the arctic circle. The documentation about this sacred tree parasite regarding mythology in ancient times is almost non existant. For the pagan tribes using it had a very strong oral tradition but an almost non existant written tradition. These were mostly druidic tribes, like the gaels, gauls, etc. and we all know that invasions, conquests and assimilations did not left much information about their lore and myths, their knowledge and vast wisdom. But I did my best to gather the available knowledge on the subject. The host tree I already discussed in an earlier article: the birch tree.

The Celtic birch, or ‘Beith’, played a spiritual role in the lives of our Gaelic ancestors, symbolising renewal and purification. ‘Beith’ was the first letter B in the early medieval Celtic tree alphabet or ‘Ogham’ and also represented the first month of the Celtic year.

The birch was part of the celebration during the festival of Samhain (what is now Halloween) held from sunset on 31 October to sunset on 1 November, which marked the culmination of summer and the harvest period with the onset of winter. During this period, ‘besoms’, or brooms made of birch twigs, were used to drive out the spirits of the old year in anticipation of the return of spring and a new awakening.
The birch tree, or ‘Lady of the Woods’ represented fertility and new birth, and in this way, echoed Norse mythology where the birch is dedicated to Thor, and also to the goddess Frigga, the goddess of marriage, childbirth and motherhood. A ‘besom wedding’ was a marriage ceremony also referred to as ‘jumping the broom’, where the besom would be held over the doorway of the couple’s home, and the couple would jump over it and then be married. It is still possible to ‘jump the broom’ as part of a traditional Highland wedding ceremony today. Birch was also featured prominently in the May Day festival of Beltane. The fires of Beltane were kindled with birch twigs and fertility dances would be performed around an often living birch maypole to ensure health and abundant crops.

There are a variety of medicinal and even beautifying properties attributed to different parts of the birch tree by folklore and herbalism. The astringent leaves have diuretic and antiseptic properties. Consumed as a tea, the leaves were, and still are, used as a remedy for cystitis and other urinary tract infections. They were also used to dissolve kidney stones and relieve rheumatism and gout. The sap as discussed in an earlier article was given for kidney and gall-bladder stones, and also for rheumatism and gout. Women in the Highlands were known to use birch sap as a hair shampoo and even to rinse their hair with an infusion of spring birch twigs. Both birch tea and sap contain significant amounts of vitamin C. The bark, when soaked in hot water, was applied to the body to ease muscle pain. The ancient practice of dry distilling birch bark also produces an oil or ‘birch tar’ which contains antiseptic compounds or phenols (which are highly concentrated in chaga, oups, I just gave the clue…), making it useful for the treatment of skin wounds or infections. There is evidence of birch tar chewing gum being used thousands of years ago to treat gum infections. Birch tar is still regarded as an effective treatment for acne, eczema, psoriasis and dandruff. Birch tar soap certainly has a very pungent, though not unpleasant, antiseptic smell. The tender inner layer of birch bark, known as the cambium, can also be made into a surprisingly delicious and refreshing tea, or even ground down into a flour for baking. But historically, it has been used mostly when the crops were bad.

So the birch tree has great importance in Celtic folklore and medicine, and can even be consumed as a food. No wonder chaga mushroom, the sacred mushroom, which concentrates within it the therapeutic phytonutrients of the birch, whilst adding a myriad of its own, is such a powerful medicinal mushroom. What we call ‘Chaga’ is the dense black mass (25-40 cm large) that can be seen on the outside of trees (almost exclusively birches) infected with the fungus Inonotus obliquus. It is not a fruiting body (meant for spreading spores, the final stage in the life of many mushrooms) but a dense sterile mass of mycelia, with decayed bits of birch tissue incorporated. When chopped from the tree the interior has a rusty yellow-brown color, somewhat granular in appearance, and is often mottled with whitish or cream-colored veins. The hard, deeply cracked black outside of the Chaga is called the sclerotium. This is important, because this sclerotium contains a massive amount of a specific fungi-melanin, giving a very high level of anti-oxidants and turning Chaga into powerful anti-aging tool. Typically, well-developed Chaga sclerotia are found on trees over 40 years of age, but the infection starts earlier. The period from initial infection to tree death varies with the number of infection sites and tree resistance, but is typically around 20 years. After about 3-5 years the Chaga can be harvested. After harvesting, chaga can regrow to harvestable size again in three to ten years, and this can be repeated until the tree dies. Chopping off the Chaga does not stop the infection.

‘Chaga tea’ was used for the treatment of an upset stomach and intestinal pains. Such a decoction was (and still is) especially popular among hunters and foresters, since this drink alleviates hunger, removes tiredness, refreshes, and increases work capacity. Chaga tea is also used as a means of improving the general tone. Patients were (and still are) frequently recommended to use chaga extracts when it was necessary to reduce the arterial or venous blood pressure. Chaga infusions were (and still are)also used for the treatment of periodontitis, eczema, dermatitis, and psoriasis. Inhalations of chaga with other herbs are until today being used to reduce inflammations in the nasopharynx and to facilitate breathing. Chaga was also used in agriculture, in particular in animal breeding: adding chaga to the ration of pigs stimulates the growth of piglets and accelerates the weight gain of fatteners. Chaga has also been used as a plant growth stimulator, like fertilizer. Chaga develops best in very cold regions and it appears that the more harsh the climate and the swings in temperature, the better the therapeutic quality of the Chaga. Harsh climate + birch forest = high Chaga potential!

Chaga was and is still used for general well-being, internal cleaning (we would call it ‘detoxing’) and curing and preventing disease in general, but in particular for liver problems, heart problems, tuberculosis and to get rid of parasitic worms. It was prepared as a tea. (method of preparation: cut up dried Chaga, put it into boiling water, boil for several minutes.)Three cm3 were used for 2.5 l of tea, and the tea was drunk until the ailment was cured. The Chaga was also used to make ‘soap water‘. To make ‘soap water‘ the fungus was first put into the fire.
When it turned red (like smoldering charcoal) it was put into a bucket of hot water and then stirred until it broke into small pieces. The black water thus obtained has a strong cleaning and disinfecting ability. This ‘soap water‘ was used to wash the genitals of women during menstruation and after birth; sometimes new-born babies were also washed. It can be compared to the effect of a KMnO4 solution (potassium permanganate; a disinfectant used in Russia to wash new-borns the first three months after their birth) and stated that women who washed themselves with such water, never took ill. In older times it had been used instead of soap to wash the hands, feet and sometimes also the whole body. Chaga was also burned and the smoke was inhaled; its purpose was ritual cleaning.

As you can see, the Chaga was an essential for survival in the northern regions. It’s multitude of purposes and benefits and the hunt linked to it’s harvest clearly justify his sacred status. About the hunt, I guess the fact that 1 birch tree out of 10000 bears chaga justify calling the harvest a “hunt”. For our ancestors, to have found a chaga was likely to have been a greater discovery than that of finding gold. Thus the chaga beholder was probably seen as some kind of savior and must have been honored by the whole tribe. For the survival and wealth of their tribe was secured by the chaga. I highly recommend you to use it on a daily basis if you manage achieve a successful hunt.

1965 Immigration Law Co-Sponsor Eugene McCarthy’s Awakening to the Threat of Non-White Immigration

via The Occidental Observer

Recently I was going through some books when I came across my autographed copy of the late Senator Eugene McCarthy’s 1992 book “A Colony of the World: The United States Today.” McCarthy is best remembered for his 1968 Democratic primary challenge to President Johnson that caused Johnson to abandon his campaign for re-election. McCarthy later ran for President as an independent in 1976, and I worked as a volunteer at his Washington headquarters.

“A Colony of the World” argues that America, despite its economic and military prowess, was reduced to a de facto colonial position due to self-inflicted policies of policing the world, acting as lender of last resort, and allowing its borders to become “a mockery for all to cross.” About a third of the book dealt directly with immigration, both legal and illegal.

McCarthy defends his support for the 1965 immigration act by saying that its consequences were unexpected. It is true that the bill passed both houses of Congress with overwhelming bi-partisan support, the only real opposition coming from “Dixiecrats.” McCarthy’s explanation is interesting and informative, although it certainly does not absolve him and the rest of Congress of responsibility for the massive immigration problems that we face now, half a century later.
McCarthy places the context of the 1965 immigration act squarely in the radical social transformation that was boiling over in the 1960s:
The Immigration Act of 1965 was passed the same year this country instituted sweeping civil rights reforms. One hundred years after the Civil War, the country had finally evolved to the point where de jure discrimination against black citizens could no longer be tolerated. Amidst this climate of change and self-criticism for long-standing injustices, Congress also turned its attention to a policy that discriminated against people outside the United States. Prior to 1965, our immigration policies overtly favored immigrants from northern and western Europe and excluded, either in statute or practice, most other nationalities. Changing these discriminatory immigration policies had been a priority of President Kennedy, and like many other aspects of Lyndon Johnson’s Great Society, the Immigration Act of 1965 became sort of a legislative tribute to our slain leader. Given the political tenor of the times, the debate focused more on the evils of the old system than on the virtues of the new. The new measure sought to destroy the objectionable features of the old law.
It is interesting that McCarthy talked about a climate of “self-criticism” and the evils and objectionable features of the old system. Professor Kevin MacDonald in The Culture of Critique wrote that Jewish intellectual movements of the twentieth century recruited non-Jews like McCarthy to participate in the criticism of prevailing societal norms in pursuit of social changes that had a veneer of morality but were actually motivated by Jewish ethnic interests. MacDonald calls the 1965 immigration act a turning point in the Jewish domination of American society.

According to McCarthy, discriminating against non-Europeans in immigration via the existing national origin quota system was viewed as “repugnant,” and Congress sought to replace it with a system which placed all nations on an equal footing. This view, shared by McCarthy at the time and not repudiated in his book, ignores the reality that certain nationalities are, by virtue of their language and culture, more easily assimilated into American life.

McCarthy notes that Congress, not desiring an increase in overall immigration levels, capped immigration from the western hemisphere (Latin America and the Caribbean) at 120,000 per year, while a cap of 165,000 per year was placed on immigration from the rest of the world. At this rate, immigration from the western hemisphere should not have been more than six million over the past fifty years. Yet the Hispanic population of America now exceeds 50 million.

So what went wrong? According to McCarthy, the caps were eroded away continuously on an ad hoc basis to adapt to immigration pressures that often were the result of American foreign policy. Cubans were given a welcome mat almost immediately, Vietnamese and other refugees from the failed Vietnam War were allowed in, as were people disrupted by Central American wars pursued by president Reagan. McCarthy could have mentioned the special treatment allotted to Soviet Jews, but chose to touch on neither the special privileges nor the power of Jews in America.

McCarthy did address the massive demographic changes that resulted from the law. He said the reason that post-1965 immigration skewed so much towards the Third World was that in the years after passage of the new law the economies of western Europe were booming and its population was content to stay put. Eastern Europeans, meanwhile, were not free to immigrate. So immigration came mostly from Latin America and Asia.
The next unintended impact of the law was from the family connection preferences. The top two categories for immigrants were granted to people with certain family connections to the United States. Seeing as non-European immigration had been limited by earlier national origins quotas, McCarthy and others in Congress did not expect many Asians, Africans, and Latin Americans to have the necessary family relations to benefit from these preferences.
“The thinking was that few Africans, Latins and Asiatics had the necessary family connections to qualify for these slots, thus ensuring the continuation of a predominantly European immigration flow.
McCarthy goes on to say that the third preference, which was for skilled workers, was quickly filled by professional people from the Third World, and that these people then became the ones with relatives to sponsor for the first two preference categories.

Seeing as McCarthy wound up becoming a fierce critic of the new immigration system, it is plausible the he and many others in Congress did not understand the implications of the overhaul of the immigration system that they themselves ushered in. Yet judging from the paper trail of the Jewish sponsors of the 1965 law like Rep. Emanuel Celler and Senator Jacob Javits, they very much did seek the demographic transformation that ensued.

The fact is that the since 1965, not only has there not been a continuation of a predominantly European immigration flow, the family connection system virtually excludes Europeans, as recent immigrants are obviously going to be the one with close relatives that can be sponsored, while whites (and blacks) whose ancestors have been here for several generations have no close foreign relatives.

It is also worth keeping in mind that no matter what the immigration law, there simply are not large European populations that could be tapped as immigrants that would not be leaving behind countries which themselves are vulnerable to demographic transformation from non-European immigrants.

One of McCarthy’s criticisms of the current system is that the emphasis on family connections deprives government officials the ability to decide which people with which skills will be allowed to come, and places these decisions in the hands of recent immigrants. So the thrust of policy is not what is good for the country but what is desired by recent immigrants.

McCarthy also took on illegal immigration. He said that during the early 1990s when he was writing the book, less than 2% of the million-plus illegals who crossed the border each year were deported. He also linked them squarely with the explosion of crack cocaine and other illegal drugs and crime.

He also pointed out the strain that illegals place on the welfare, education, and public health budgets. For instance he stated that “[t]wo-thirds of all babies born in public hospitals in Los Angeles at taxpayer expense are born to illegal alien mothers.”

He slammed the California legislature for passing a bill to give illegal aliens in-state tuition (which was ultimately vetoed by Governor Pete Wilson) and New York Mayor Ed Koch for his executive order prohibiting city agencies from distinguishing between citizens and illegal aliens in distributing public housing benefits. He noted with irony that this was despite the fact that both California and New York were perpetually on the verge of bankruptcy.

In his conclusion, McCarthy called for not just an end to illegal immigration (which he thought would require a massive increase in border controls), but also changing the legal immigration structures to give the government better control over both the “numbers and qualities of immigrants.” In particular, he singled out ending the priority for family connections.

It is fascinating that one of the co-sponsors of the 1965 Immigration Act would have come out with such a condemnation of the bill. While his sense of betrayal was palpable, it is a shame that he failed to connect this betrayal to Jewish supremacism. Still, it is significant that this liberal icon of the 1960s could have come out with such a clear anti-immigration message in 1992 when the issue was not yet on the radar screens for even most conservatives. It shows that, at least when presented with the right narrative, the threat posed by our current de facto open borders policy can be recognized by astute observers, be they liberal or conservative.

Predatory Capitalism Exploits White American Individualists

via EGI Notes

Individualism requires ethics and moral principles. Thus, it fails when invaded by ethnocentric tribalists. But it can also fail for other reasons – such as being exploited by fatcat capitalists and their rent-seeking behavior, to influence the political system to amass more wealth and power.

In America, a lot of the whole “individualism, libertarianism, small government” meme derives from the wealthy exploiting the natural tendencies of White Americans to favor such things, in order to establish big market capitalism, outsourcing, and mass migration. Chamber of Commerce cabals are “playing unfair” with individualism just as do, say, Jews. All this talk of “let’s make the country safe for the small businessman” really means “let’s make the country safe for the Koch brothers, let’s make the country safe for Gates and Zuckerberg, let’s ship the jobs to China and import Mexicans and Asians to do whatever jobs can’t be shipped out.”
When Democrats assert that the White middle class and working class vote against their own economic interests by supporting Republicans, they are right. But they betray their own racial interests even more by voting Democrat.

The Antidote Has Started to Take Effect, but . . .

via Aryanism

As we promised would happen: http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/612270/Germany-Jews-living-in-fear-of-anti-semitic-Muslim-refugees and http://forward.com/news/breaking-news/322645/dutch-jews-concerned-about-refugee-center-in-amsterdam-suburb/

Now the only thing that can go wrong is if the parasite can trick the host body into rejecting the antidote before the antidote is fully absorbed. Unfortunately, it looks like the parasite is succeeding. When a FIREFIGHTER is committing arson on a refugee centre and the government is letting him walk, you know we are in serious trouble: http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/europes-border-crisis/firefighter-accused-arson-syrian-refugees-home-germany-n444236

And then, literally while I was writing this post, this happened: http://www.lbc.co.uk/german-mayoral-candidate-stabbed-in-neck-118124

More about the victim here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henriette_Reker

We need to hold out for DECADES in order for the antidote to have time to work. Far-right terror attacks like these will continue through these decades. Unless we have an organized paramilitary fighting back against the far-right terrorists (because we’d be naive to expect the Zionist police to deal with them), they are likely to win. If you live in any EU member state and are willing to organize such a paramilitary, please contact us at once: http://aryanism.net/about/contact/

(By the way, where is Ossendowski? He was supposed to be the one in charge of recruitment drives.)

While we welcome volunteers for this project from any and all countries in danger of far-right backlash against refugees, I would be dishonest if I did not admit that, as National Socialists, Germany is and will always be sentimentally special to us, therefore at this particular time I especially hope that we hear from German volunteers. We owe it to Hitler to defend Germany from the 21st century Identitarians just as the SA once defended it a century ago from the 20th century Bolsheviks who attacked innocent people with much the same tactics (and almost identical motives) as the Identitarians attack innocent people today. Identitarianism is indeed the Bolshevism of the 21st century; this becomes clearer with each passing day, and understanding this equivalence is crucial for making sense of what is currently going on: http://aryanism.net/politics/multiethnic-society/is-race-the-new-class/

The other thing to understand is that the supposedly “pro-refugee” establishment Zionist governments (Merkel etc.) are NOT on our side on this issue. If they were on our side, they would not be keeping refugees packed in publicized but unguarded asylum centres where they are sitting ducks for arson and other attacks. If they were on our side, all the arsonists and other attackers would have been arrested by now. You really think the police can’t solve such simple crimes? No, I am willing to bet that the police are deliberately letting almost all the criminals get away with it, thereby sending out the message to other rightists that it is OK to burn down asylum centres, and hence encouraging more rightists to become arsonists! (And if the police are reading this, please prove me wrong by launching a serious crackdown on the criminals soon. I would love to be proven wrong. It would be a relief for me to be proven wrong.) If they were on our side, they would have been dispatching their navies to ferry in refugees safely, instead of leaving them to cross the Mediterranean in overloaded dinghies. If they were on our side, Turkey would have been allowed to join the EU ages ago. If they were on our side, they’d deal with PEGIDA the way China dealt with the Tiananmen Square protestors.

No, the establishment Zionist governments are doing what the Jewish parasite wants them to do: encourage rejection of the antidote. One way to encourage rejection of the antidote is to deliberately administer it clumsily and unhygeinically, so that the body enters convulsion. This is what is going on right now. We have far-right useful idiots too stupid to realize that the establishment Zionist governments are deliberately trying to put the far-right into power via reverse-bluff, and a False Left too stupid to realize the exact same thing (and hence continue to merely trust the government to protect the refugees). We need people who understand that when it comes to crunch time,  the establishment Zionist governments are NOT going to protect the refugees. Either we protect the refugees ourselves, or no one will.

Sex and Tropism

via Gornahoor

Man is directly a natural being. As a natural being and as a living natural being he is on the one hand endowed with natural powers, vital powers – he is an active natural being. These forces exist in him as tendencies and abilities – as instincts. On the other hand, as a natural, corporeal, sensuous objective being he is a suffering, conditioned and limited creature, like animals and plants. That is to say, the objects of his instincts exist outside him, as objects independent of him; yet these objects are objects that he needs – essential objects, indispensable to the manifestation and confirmation of his essential powers. ~ Karl Marx
Sexual behavior is a complex of chemotropism, or automatic reactions evoked by chemical stimuli in the bloodstream… Sex in its ordinary manifestations among civilized human beings is not the product of natural instinct that is generally supposed to be but is a chemotropism evoked or conditioned reflex (in Pavlov’s sense) evoked in response to aphrodisiacal stimulation by foods and beverages, especially animal proteins, alcohol, coffee, and also tobacco. This tropistic reaction, in both its physical and psychical aspects, is subject to voluntary control through diet, an alkaline-forming, low-protein vegetable diet reducing it, while an acid-forming high-protein meat diet increases it. ~ Raymond W. Bernard, Nutritional Sex Control and Rejuvenation
All actions of the animal (including human) organism are determined by external and internal or hormonal stimuli, and the concept of purposiveness in behavior and free will must be completely discarded and replaced by one of automatic reactions in terms of quantitative laws of mechanical causation. ~ Jacques Loeb, Forced Movements, Tropisms, and Animal Conduct
From its first moment, we can say that the “I” still lives only as if in a dream: it is not yet a self-consciousness, nor an autonomous principle of action: immersed in an immediate, indistinct coalescence with nature and the world, we can say that it is not so much he who thinks, speaks, and asserts himself, but rather that various forces and impulses think, speak and assert themselves in him. He therefore is only a type of medium, a passive instrument that has his very life outside himself, and he experiences everything as grace, as spontaneity, as the immediate self-manifestation of something that transcends him. ~ Julius Evola
Logic can descend even further. When this happens, human beings are beginning to use a type of logic that is directed from the subterranean spheres. This may even be an irrefutable logic and may have an enormously convincing effect … Then, one no longer thinks independently, but Ahriman is thinking through that person. ~ Valentin Tomberg
Recently, I was interviewed by a team of Martian scientists and metaphysicians who were studying human life on earth. They were curious about the objects we’ve been sending to their planet; in particular, they wondered why we didn’t just use astral travel. You see, the Martians never went through the process of solidification experienced by earth humans. Thus they are able to see the “inner” nature, or essence, of things. That they regard as much more important than phenomena and mere appearances. They can discern the inner states of conscious beings through a process they call “external considering”.

They explained that metaphysical principles are true always and everywhere and that gave us somewhat of a common language. I discussed certain texts like the Tao Te Ching, the Vedas, Medieval philosophy, and so on. They listened with interest but then conceded that, although they were “in the ballpark”, they were still quite primitive. Nevertheless, they prepared their final report using the terminology I had given them. Since it provides some suggestions for mystical evolution, there may be some value in it. It has the advantage of providing and objective evaluation of the human condition
I have no hard or electronic copy, but they gave me permission to publish the main points of their report from the Akashic record. Those texts will be marked with a green vertical line.
Because of the solidification of their world, the earthlings have grave difficulties with metaphysical concepts. Their thought patterns are stuck on discursive thought and direct intuition does not come easily. Actually, it almost always depends on sense experiences first followed by a difficult climb to grasp the essence. Hence, they tend to see timeless and spaceless concepts as mere extensions of phenomena. They then misunderstand their myths and symbols as referring to physical events.
With all that in mind, this initial report will focus on the earthlings as biological beings. Like many other beings in the galaxy, their physical organism is DNA-based. Although their biologists have made some progress in analyzing DNA, they have not advanced at all from the ancient texts in understanding the interiority of their being. This creates inner conflict. Therefore, we have provided some suggestions to match their inner and outer natures and have encouraged our human contact to disseminate this material widely.

General Law

The Macrocosm is the same everywhere; that is why the Martian experience is of value to us. What they reported next sounds very similar to ideas from the Hermetic revival of last century in figures like Evola, Mouravieff, and Tomberg. They would neither confirm nor deny any prior communication with those earthmen. As Rene Guenon points out, Life is one of the essential elements of the manifest universe. Hence, certain life issues arise in all life forms. The report continues:
In the universal phenomena of life, there are three infra-rational factors that maintain the existence of life. In their teachings, these factors are related to what they call chakras:
  • Fear. The fear factor is centered in the root chakra; this serves to protect the organism from threats.
  • Sex. The sex factor, centered in the chakra of the sex organs, ensures the creation of new and distinct organism.
  • Hunger. The hunger factor, centered in the chakra of the solar plexus, enables the organism to maintain and improve its state of existence.
In a healthy being, these factors serve for the benefit of the organism. Yet, due to the solidification of their planet and life forms, these factors come to dominate the consciousness. Each of them has an intellectual component, which serves their own purpose with a level of intelligence. Unfortunately, what seems rational from the perspective of a given chakra is far from rational for the being as a whole. Hence, earthlings often get themselves involved in situations that seemed expedient from a limited perspective, yet eventually result in serious problems.

The Martians were very interested in our discussions about tropism. They certainly understood the concept, yet had trouble imagining the state of consciousness of a being dominated by a tropism. I suggested that the law of analogy may be helpful, if tropism is understood as an attraction that is expressed on the physical level as electrical attraction, at the lowest life level as tropism, then as sexual attraction, all the way to the attraction of the metaphysical dyad. Here is their report:
At its most basic level, tropism begins in plant life as a response to a stimulus. Although many tropisms have been observed, the best model is the heliotropism of a sun flower which bends during the day to follow the movement of the sun. In addition to the normative expression of the tropism, two variations may arise: the artificial and the abnormal. In the former, there is an artificial stimulus that mimics the normative stimulus and the abnormal, which is a deviation of the response to a natural stimulus.
For example, a plant may respond to an artificial light rather than the sun. In the worst scenario, the plant will turn away from the stimulus because of a genetic mutation. Most often, but not always, that will result in the failure of the plant to pass on its genes.
There is an interesting twist in tropisms for earthlings. The tropisms, which operate at the lower centers, interfere with the thought process. This interference causes the being to believe it is consciously choosing the stimulus response, so it then fabricates confabulations to attempt to explain its response. Our earth contact explained to us that it is quite difficult to lead such a being out of the intricate web of his confabulations once they become deeply rooted.

Hunger and Fear

The Martians gave me some interesting suggestions about control of the lower chakras which are the centers of hunger, sex, and fear. All intelligent life forms have a foundation on these general laws of life although their effects may be quite different. Specifically, as in the description of tropisms, these laws should result in intelligent and normative effect. Unfortunately, in the human condition, they often take an artificial, factitious, or even abnormal path. I will have more to say about this in a follow up post, but I will mention here the key point.

Many systems try to raise inner psychic energy, often called kundalini, from the bottom up; i.e., from the root, sex, and solar plexus centers, and then to higher centers. The results of that have seldom been good. They suggested, on the other hand, that the movement should be in the exact opposite direction. Specifically, there needs to be mastery over the sensations of hunger, sexual attraction, and then fear, in that order. This is a downward movement of the higher intellectual part of the being to dominate the lower parts.

This is always a difficult topic since everyone, it appears, has an opinion about it. Besides, I often hear about it in private communications and comments, many of which need to be rejected. There are several stages of indifference, which will be discussed in a forthcoming post. (Some of these stages are discussed in Love is but a dream, and in the previous chapters.) One of the last stages is the ability to discuss this topic with no emotional response. That is called the ability to “drink poison and handle snakes”. Nevertheless, for others it may be a remote, or even a near, occasion; some of them will unsubscribe from mailing lists or “unfriend” me.

Nevertheless, the objective, scientific viewpoint of the Martians, based on solid metaphysical principles, will ultimately prove of value. The Martians bring birth to new beings consciously. That is, they take into consideration both heredity and the environment before initiating conception. They are astounded by the low level of our sexual development. They attribute it to the lush conditions for life, for which the “fittest” is a rather low bar to reach.
The sex of life of earthlings is pursued independently of metaphysical principals for the most part. There is some understanding, according to our contact, of the metaphysical dyad, which is the archetype for all the polarities of manifestation. But for most, sex is little more than a biological function, a natural force like any other, which can be used for any suitable purpose. Even those who can discern a higher source often remain on the psychical level rather than the spiritual or metaphysical.
The male and female earthlings are manifestations of the metaphysical principle of the dyad. Even still, since the earthlings have not mastered the art of manifestation, this process is often incomplete, resulting in a privation of the primordial dyad. That is, for some beings there is an imperfect sexualization which causes psychological distress and even social turmoil.
There is also huge waste of energy involved in the sex function, both material and psychical. The females lose their eggs every month. The males lose their sperm involuntarily through nocturnal emissions or, more often, voluntarily with no real biological purpose.
Along with physical dissolution, the psychic energy, which could have been sublimated to a higher purpose, is likewise dissipated.
Since I can’t reproduce the entire report here, I will highlight the main points. Keep in mind that sex for the Martians is understood on two levels. The first is the means to create a new being on the biological level. The second is their equivalent of the androgyne in which the dyad is resolved in their individual consciousness. The pleasure and joy associated with that process is so overwhelming that the physical sex act pales in comparison. Hence, they use it for its natural and organic function.

Of course, our own Traditions are not unlike the Martians’, at least in principle. The Yoga Sutras require sexual restraint. Buddhist initiations prohibit masturbation, oral, and anal sex. The Western tradition is not unlike the Tibetan in that regard.

To make it simple for me, they explained it in terms of tropisms, or orientations. Subsequently, I found some biologists who explain sexual activity in terms of chemotropism. Hence, the distortions in the imagination and thinking centers caused for sexual desire are merely confabulations. Looked at objectively, the biological function of sex is simply the continuation of the species. All other functions are then artificial, factitious or abnormal, as difficult as that may be for us to accept. From the male point of view, they provided the real tropisms of orientations, in order of increasing specificity.
  1. Orientation toward a vagina (rather than an ersatz substitute for it)
  2. Orientation toward a specific vagina (i.e., that of one’s polar opposite, rather than a random female)
  3. Orientation toward fertilizing an egg (rather than for pure recreation)
That sounds quite convincing on an abstract level, but quite difficult to accept for everyday life. This will be expanded in an upcoming post.

Asatru as a Living Tradition

via Counter-Currents

New Grange Hall
Author’s Note: This essay was an address delivered to the members of the Asatru Folk Assembly on Friday October 16th, at the AFA’s Winter Nights in the Poconos. I wish to thank Steve and Sheila McNallen, Brad Taylor-Hicks, et al., for inviting me, and for their hospitality and friendship. Hail the AFA!

Last month I celebrated the AFA’s acquisition of New Grange Hall with a short essay entitled “What New Grange Hall Means for Us.” It was published on the Counter-Currents website. In the essay I stated at one point:

It will be fascinating to see the new forms of artistic expression that will take shape as members of the AFA begin to adorn this austere, modern American structure. And new forms of ceremony, theology, and community will take shape there as well. All of them will be the result of a dynamic interplay between the old and the new. The work that will take place on the building, and the new-old forms developed within it, will parallel the process that is taking place in each of us as we learn to be true to the gods of our ancestors.

Actually, I intended this statement to be deliberately provocative. I wanted to challenge the idea that New Grange Hall will simply be a place where the old is re-created. Such an idea is understandable. We tend to think of Asatru, in the main, as a revival of something old, and as a recovery of something lost. It is this, of course. But I would like to suggest that it is much more than this. It is a living tradition, not something that ever was closed and complete. And for us to participate in that tradition means to add to it, to develop it in new ways. What makes this possible, I will argue, is precisely the fact that Asatru is a folk religion: a religion of and for a specific people. This is something that members of the AFA know, at least in some abstract sense. But they may not fully appreciate all of its implications.

Tommy Ferguson with his handiwork
Let’s begin by considering the fact that many of us tend to think of Asatru as a set of doctrines or beliefs that need to be reconstructed or recovered. Even where Asatruar do not explicitly understand the religion in doctrinal terms, I think for many of them this understanding is implicit. How did it come about? The answer is fairly simple. Christianity supplanted Asatru. Most of us were raised in the Christian religion. And even for those lucky few who were not raised as Christians, this is the religion most familiar to us. There is a tendency, therefore, to understand other religions in terms of how Christianity understands religion itself. We must be on our guard here, as this tendency is very often present even when we are not consciously aware of it.

As a type of religion, Christianity can be characterized as doctrinal or creedal. The other sort of religion is folk or ethnic. This distinction has to do, really, with the criterion for membership in the religion. Folk religions are specific to a certain people or race. Examples include Hinduism, Judaism — and Asatru. One is automatically a member of the religion simply by being born a member of the ethnic group. This will immediately invite the following sort of objection: “Is Rev. Mike Schmidt, the Baptist preacher who lives next door to me, automatically a member of Asatru simply because his ancestry is Germanic?” The answer, in fact, is yes. But this is a point to which I will return much later.

The intimate tie between a folk religion and the folk is reflected in language. The term “Hinduism” is derived from the Persian word “Hindu,” which actually just denotes the Indian people. The etymology of “Judaism” is similar, deriving ultimately from a word that simply means “Jew” (a “member of the tribe of Judah”). The words themselves therefore do not distinguish a member of the ethnic group from an adherent to the religion.

Now, our ancestors did not use the term “Asatru.” They did not have a name for their religion at all — just as ancient Hindus and Jews didn’t refer to “Hinduism” and “Judaism.” Given that ours is an ethnic religion, it would make more sense that the name of our religion, if it should have a name at all, ought to be based on the name of our people. (And if our religion did have such a name, much of the controversy over whether it should be folkish or universalistic might be simply sidestepped.)

Today, if asked by a Hindu what religion we practice, we can answer “Asatru,” and he will tell us that he practices “Hinduism.” But think how different the conversation would be if it had taken place a thousand years ago or so. No names of religions would have been exchanged. Perhaps, instead, names of gods would have been mentioned. But there would have been an understanding that each man simply follows the religion of his people (though even the word “religion” would not have been used). It would not occur to one of our ancestors to think “Perhaps I’ll become a Hindu.” Essentially, that would have meant changing tribes. This is what it means to belong to a folk religion.

The name “Asatru,” of course, does not clearly convey the folkishness of the religion, but it seems to be the name we are stuck with. An unfortunate, unintended consequence of this word is that “Asatru” becomes in the minds of modern Westerners an abstraction: one of the many religious “options” that they naively believe they may choose from, like shoppers in a department store. All these religious options are conceived, of course, in terms of the idea of a “belief system,” and of doctrines which one might take up or choose to believe in simply by reading about them in a book.

In the case of religions which make doctrine or creed central — religions such as Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism — membership is open to all. What makes one a member is not ethnicity, but the fact that one professes the faith; i.e., professes the creed or doctrine. The conversion of our people to Christianity was not fundamentally a case of one set of doctrines being replaced by another, but of one conception of religion being replaced by another: we went from a folk religion to a creedal one. And we have lived with it for so long that when we look back to what was lost and seek to recover it — to recover Asatru — we often unconsciously see the religion of our ancestors through the lens of creedal religion, and think of it in terms of a set of doctrines that must be recovered, codified, and adhered to. There is even a tendency to think of the Poetic Edda, along the lines of the Bible. This is an error for a number of reasons, the least important of which is that the Eddas date from Christian times. The crucial error here is that Asatru is not, and never was, a religion of the book.

Now, one of the most significant differences between ethnic and creedal religions is that the former tend to be more tolerant of differences of opinion and interpretation, whereas the latter tend to be extremely intolerant. Consider Hinduism. Anyone who studies this religion and so-called “Indian philosophy” at a certain point has the feeling of being absolutely overwhelmed: there are so many different myths, cults, practices, injunctions, and paths to enlightenment that it is all rather bewildering. Many of these conflict. And yet they are all Hinduism. If you ask a Hindu how many gods there are you may be told 33 — or 330 million. Or that both are true. You may be told that behind all manifestation, including the gods, is Brahman. And that the gods are mere mythic ways of approaching the ultimate truth, not actual beings. A Hindu who took such a position would, in fact, be an atheist. Yet he would still be accepted as a Hindu. A different Hindu might tell you that both the Gods and Brahman are real. And yet these two men, with diametrically opposed views, would unquestionably regard each other as Hindus.

A similar diversity of viewpoints is to be found in Judaism. Beyond the familiar division between Orthodox and reformed Jews, who most certainly consider each other to be Jews, one will find great differences in all theological matters, often debated in minute detail. The history of the Kabbalah alone reveals radical differences. There are even Jewish kabbalists who believe in reincarnation. And yet, again, with rare exceptions all of the Jews taking these very different positions regard each other as Jews.

The situation appears quite different when one turns to Christianity and Islam. In Christianity theological differences inevitably lead to schisms. It is only today that Catholics can look at Lutherans and say, “Well, despite everything we are Christians, after all.” But that is simply because everything has become so watered down and dumbed down today, even in the Churches, that most young Catholics and Lutherans have never been taught what it is that separates them. Just a hundred years ago, these differences were well known. And Christians from different sects used to truly believe (and sometimes still do believe) that those other Christians aren’t real Christians. And sometimes they sincerely believed that those false Christians would go to hell.

In the last decade or so the differences between the sects of Islam have been in the news quite a bit — to the point where some Americans may be more familiar with those differences than with the ones that divide Christians. We have learned, for example, that some Muslims regard others as not being Muslims at all, and are quite willing to put them to the sword in the name of the “true religion.”

In addition to all this, we have the well-known phenomenon of Christian and Muslim intolerance toward those of entirely different faiths. True-believing Christians and Muslims think that Hindus and Jews are going to hell — unless, of course, they convert. For their part, Hindus and Jews may well regard Christians and Muslims as inferior beings, but they have no interest in recruiting them or stopping them from practicing their own religions.

What explains this curious divide between ethnic and creedal religions? The tolerance of the one and the intolerance of the other? It’s not that Christians and Muslims are monotheists, because the Jews are as well. The answer, quite simply, is that members of an ethnic religion are bound together not fundamentally by doctrines but by their ethnicity. Again, the denotation of “Jew” and “Hindu” is both a member of the ethnic group and an adherent to the religion. Thus, Jews who hold radically different theological views are still Jews to one another. Even atheist Jews are still Jews. And likewise, as I’ve said, for Hindus.

So what does this mean for us? What does it mean for Asatru? Quite simply, if Asatru is a folk religion then what unites us fundamentally is not a particular set of beliefs, but blood — common ancestry. And because of this, we may tolerate, indeed celebrate, an infinite variety of ways in which Asatru might be interpreted and developed. Nothing except betrayal of one’s people — or adoption of a creed that would lead to such betrayal — could justify the claim that someone is no longer practicing Asatru. This means that Asatru can be and ought to be an incredibly rich and vibrant religion. And yet, as I noted earlier, there is a tendency among Asatruar to think that the practice of our religion is a matter always of going back, and staying true to so-called canonical sources.

As an example of this, consider the attitude of many Asatruar to Wagner. I wrote an essay several years ago titled “Wagner’s Place in the Germanic Tradition,” in which I argued that the great composer should be seen as a modern skald — indeed, the greatest of all times. But, the familiar objection goes, why did he have to change the myths? Well, the simple response to this is: why did all the other skalds have to change the myths?

All the Scandinavian accounts of the Siegfried or Sigurd legend that Wagner drew on are now thought to be developments and elaborations of German originals. If one compares the accounts of the legendary hero in the Völsungasaga, Poetic Edda, Prose Edda, and other sources, one will find that they differ with each other as much as do Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. It is completely pointless to debate which is the “authentic” story. Each of these sources is an artistic creation. They are not self-effacing attempts to faithfully mirror some original source. That would, in fact, be contrary to the Germanic spirit! No, they are highly individual creations, using certain basic stories as a framework which they then embellish and elaborate, often intermingling it with other myths and heroic legends.

Even if one points out the obvious fact that Wagner employs the myths to convey his own ideas, this is irrelevant. Should we suppose that the authors of the Eddas and Sagas were really doing anything different? They too were recasting pre-existing material in order to speak to their own time – and to reveal truths that were timeless and universal.

For our ancestors, Asatru was something that they were actively involved in creating. And to return to that religion means for us to continue this act of creation.  For our ancestors their religion was a living, growing tradition. And each individual member of the folk had the power to add to, expand, and recast it. Thus, to revive or re-create Asatru cannot be a matter of simply reaching back into the past and setting up old forms and beliefs as gospel. Those old forms and beliefs, in fact, changed and evolved over time.

This process involved a continual oscillation between past and present. Steeped in the lore of their forebears, our ancestors responded to new challenges, discoveries, dreams, and inspirations by adding to, transforming, and sometimes discarding old, established forms. What made this process possible? Again, the answer is precisely that Asatru is a folk religion. Not only were our ancestors steeped in its lore from infancy, that lore came from them — and could only have come from them.

Here I touch on something absolutely essential, but also quite mysterious and impossible — I believe — to ever fully explain in rational terms. Each race, each ethnic group, each tribe is distinct both on the outside and on the inside. In addition to conspicuous physiognomic characteristics, each also has distinctive ways of thinking, feeling, and moving. They have distinctive ways of responding to nature, responding to challenges, of looking at the past and the future, of thinking about the heavens and the earth, of understanding the differences between male and female, of dealing with the ever-present possibility of death, and so on. In some cases, the differences are great: the differences between any member of any European tribe and any member of any tribe of Asia are very great indeed. Whereas comparatively the differences between members of the different European tribes is much less, though there are still significant differences.

Why do these differences exist? How did they originate? One answer is that peoples changed and evolved as they adapted to different environmental circumstances. But, as I have said, the precise reasons why these differences exist will probably forever remain somewhat mysterious. In any case, each people, each tribe has produced its own religion. And these religions are expressions of the spirit of each people, and are saturated with its idiosyncrasies. As I have written elsewhere, Ásatrú is an expression of the unique spirit of the Germanic peoples. And one could also plausibly claim that the spirit of the Germanic peoples just is Ásatrú, understanding its myth and lore simply as a way in which the people projects its spirit before itself, in concrete form.

This means that each of us carries Asatru inside of us. And this is also true of those of our people currently committed to other faiths. As I have said, one is a member of a folk religion simply by being born a member of the folk. Therefore, we must learn to see others like ourselves as Asatruar who do not know that they are Asatruar. Those tall, blond-haired and blue eyed Mormons swarming around Salt Lake City talking of Joseph Smith are kinsmen of ours, built to worship Odin and Thor. They have just not yet awakened to who they are. But if we all carry Asatru inside us, this will manifest itself in countless ways even if we are consciously committed to other faiths. This is the root fact that explains the phenomenon that has been called the “Germanization of Christianity,” a very long process, which culminated in the terrific upheaval and bloodshed of the Reformation.

The fact that each of us carries the spirit of Asatru means that each of us is capable of bringing forth new forms and developments of Asatru that are authentic. Of course, one of the problematic characteristics of our people is our tendency to become lost in idealism, lost in abstractions, and to become disconnected from our roots. How can we be sure, then, that some of our own might not unwittingly bring forth material that perverts the spirit of Asatru? This is certainly possible. But this is why the oscillation I spoke of earlier is absolutely necessary: we must first look to the past, and then from that encounter bring forth the new. Our ancestors lived in intimate connection to the lore. We must recover that connection. But, to repeat, the lore was changing and expanding constantly during the lifetime of our ancestors. In order to make ourselves capable of becoming creative actors continuing that process, we must pick up the lost thread and first familiarize ourselves with it. And once the spirit of Asatru has awakened in us — once we know again who we are, who our people is — then we may be confident that the new that we bring forth will be an authentic expression of that spirit.

Pick up the lost thread — or find again the path that we have strayed from. As a way to reorient ourselves, I suggest that we think of Asatru not as a creed or faith, but rather as a path or a way. When we consider the conversion of our people to Christianity, we should see it not as a matter of losing a set of doctrines, but instead losing our way. Or, if you prefer, becoming side-tracked.

In what sense is Asatru a path? This term is so familiar to us that we have lost the sense of it as metaphor. A path or trail in the forest is one that has been deliberately cut or trampled. The forest is the wilderness. It is the wildness that human beings encounter and must contend with. A path is our way of passing through this wildness. A path is not a superhighway. It does not simply eradicate or remove wildness by bulldozing it. Instead, a path is a way through the wilderness. It follows the land and makes its way around its features. It is a human creation, because, again, it must involve some degree of cutting or trampling, but the path preserves wildness, and is our own way through it. Paths are formed by those who know the land and wish not simply to move through it but to live in it.

Now, most actual paths have a beginning and an end. A path is usually a path between two definite points. For example, a path may begin at the edge of the forest, take us through the forest, and deposit us out the other side. But wilderness as such, the natural world surrounding us, the universe in which we find ourselves, has no end. The metaphorical paths that lead through it may have a beginning, but they can have no end. Human beings are continually finding their way through wilderness. There is no end to this process, and so no end to the path.

All folk religions are paths through the wilderness that have been created by a unique people, forged in its encounter with a certain part of the earth. In the case of living folk religions, these paths keep growing; the people continues to extend the path through the wilderness, finding new ways around and through the new features of the world and of human experience that it encounters. Our task is to set ourselves back onto the path of Asatru, and to extend that path.

As I have said, the careful study of what has come down to us from our ancestors is a necessary precondition of finding the path again. But then what it is needed is nothing more complicated than imagination. The old stories have the power to capture our imagination. We know this. That is why we are here. But can we take this a step further? Can we retell those stories — and, dare I say, embellish them? For this is just what the authors of the Eddic poems and the Sagas did. And, to make an even more radical suggestion, can we invent new stories, new situations involving the gods and the heroes? For our ancestors did that as well.

But won’t these just be made up stories? Yes, and no. The myths that came down to us were made up stories as well. Their truth does not consist in the fact that they reported things that actually happened. Rather, it consists in the fact that they “rang true,” as we say. They said something about life and death and the forces of nature and human trials and tribulations that moved our ancestors, and to which they gave their assent.

So yes, let us make up stories. Our kinsmen will decide whether or not they ring true. Those that do will be added to the hoard. Those that do not will be forgotten. Each of us, each member of the folk, has the power to do this: both to add to the hoard of lore and to decide what should or should not be added.

Those who are of the folk, but not awakened to that fact and to the fact that they carry Asatru within them will only respond to our message if Asatru can clearly be seen to be a way of living in the present. Rather than a way of living in the past. A living religion is one that continues to have the power to make sense out of the world for us, and to orient us in present actuality. A dead or dying religion is relevant to the past alone. Its myths, which are fixed and unchanging, must be explained, for they no longer have the power to speak to us directly.

Asatru as a living tradition begins in the past, and to know this path involves knowing its origins. But just as it was for our ancestors, Asatru must be a path taking us through the present, and into the future.

The European Migrant Crisis: A Reader

via Those Who Can See

Storming the Hungarian border at Hogros,
Serbia, September 16th, 2015
From the Pope to the E.U. to the U.N., the narrative has taken shape: 'Millions of refugees fleeing war-torn regions are flooding into Europe, and we must take them all in.'  If one doesn't embrace it whole-heartedly--and many Europeans do not--one is 'vile,' 'shameful,' and 'spreading hate' (to quote German chancellor Angela Merkel).  Such closed-minded bigots need to open their hearts and homes.

We here at TWCS argue that there is much more to the story. From our privileged perch here in continental Europe, we enjoy access to scores of local news stories which haven't seeped into the international media. So as with the Charlie Hebdo massacre, we're taking a slight detour from our normal blogging in order to give a press round-up we hope some may find useful. From our seat in the very front row, we humbly invite you to join us on a tour of the less-reported sides of this epochal event. But kindly buckle up first.

[English-language sources have been used where possible; all translations are ours.]

I) Genesis

Why a migratory explosion now?

The trickle of Mediterranean boat people is in fact an old story. Where a large rich land lies near a large poor one, the temptation is constant.

Year in year out, like those intrepid Cubans aiming for Florida in their vessels of fortune, thousands of Africans seek the promised land:

(Data sources: 2006-2013, 2014, 2015)

But since the Arab Spring in 2011, violent unrest has swept the Middle East.  Large existing Arab and Muslim colonies in W. Europe have  attracted potential refugees. As for black Africans fleeing poverty, those who've long been content to work in Algeria or Libya have now been handed a twisted gift: The Libyan coast is in anarchy, run by a motley crew of warlords and people smugglers. That is, an open door to the Promised Land.

Further east, the Syrian civil war has dragged on with no end in sight:
Since 2011 over seven million Syrians have been forced from their homes by the civil war. Nearly 300,000 have died.  Over 20% have left the country and most of those live in refugee camps. Two-thirds of those still in Syria are short of food, medical care and much else. Most of the country no longer has electric power or public water and sanitation service. ...over ten percent of the towns, villages and city neighborhoods are completely abandoned.

The sudden and overwhelming migrant push we've seen this summer has two major causes. First:

Previously, migrants were forbidden from transiting Macedonia. Beginning in June [2015], migrants were given three-day, temporary asylum permits, enabling them to travel by train and road. The opening of the Macedonia route enabled migrants from the Middle East to take very short, inexpensive voyages from the coast of Turkey to the Greek Islands, instead of the far longer, more perilous, and far more expensive voyage from Libya to Italy.
[This is the route where Syrian people smuggler Abdullah Kurdi sacrificed his toddler son, creating the photo seen round the world.]

On 24 August 2015, according to article 17 of the Dublin III Regulations Germany decided to suspend the general procedure as regards Syrian refugees (normally a refugee must claim asylum in the first safe country he lands in) and to process their asylum applications directly itself. The change in Germany asylum policy incited large numbers of migrants to move towards Germany, especially after German chancellor Merkel stated that "there is no legal limit to refugee numbers".
Thus was Merkel's Boner hatched, and the rest is history.

II) Demographics

Who are these people? Many Europeans fear that the 'refugee' population is filled with opportunists (job- or welfare-seekers), criminals, unassimilable Muslims, and/or terrorists. What is the evidence?

1) Real vs Fake Refugees: The numbers

To recall, there are two major sea paths: the Italy Route and the Greece Route. The first is made of mostly Africans fleeing poverty, the second mostly of Syrians fleeing refugee camps they're not happy with. In 2015, for reasons given above, the latter suddenly began to dwarf the former.

 Data sources: 2010-2014, 2015

Europe has taken in huge numbers of refugees before, notably during the Balkan Wars of the 1990s.  But today, many Europeans fear they're being swamped with 1) economic migrants not really fleeing war, and 2) Muslim refugees who will do harm to their cultures.  Are they right?

The latest figures:

  • Nearly 500,000 people have reached Europe illegally by sea in 2015 (as of Sept.)
  • 34% of the boat people claim to be from Syria
  • 20% of new asylum applicants claim to be from Syria
  • Between 270,000 and 280,000 migrants have entered Germany just in the month of September 2015. (This is the equivalent of a city the size of Münster-- or of Newcastle, Venice, or Newark, NJ).
  • Germany is expecting up to 1.5 million entries this year alone.
  • Of those 'Syrians' entering Germany, an estimated one in three is lying about his national origins, according to Germany's Foreign Minister.

So to sum up, 20%-34% of asylum-seekers currently entering Europe are 'Syrian.' German authorities estimate one third of these to be faking.  That leaves us with about 14%-23% Syrians, of which, as we have seen, a great many are not fleeing combat directly, but fleeing refugee camps in safe countries for what they hope is more comfortable accomodation in Europe.

To their credit, Syria's neighbors have taken in the lion's share of refugees...

...to which the West has contributed substantial financial aid:

Curiously, the culturally, religiously, geographically close and fabulously rich Gulf States have slammed their doors shut:
Iran has taken in no refugees. Neither have Pakistan, Indonesia, or any of the other dozens of member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain all refused to take any refugees, and explicitly cited the risk of terrorists among the refugees.

Saudi Arabia has, however, thoughtfully offered to fund 200 mosques for their oppressed brethren taking up residence in... Germany.

2) Real vs Fake Refugees: The anecdotes

Having seen the numbers, let's now hear from those on the ground.

a) Fake Syrians

One Moroccan translator volunteering in Vienna claims a quarter of 'Syrians' in Austria are faking:
Moroccan Merouance Missaoua lives and works in Vienna. In his free time, he interprets for refugees at the Westbahnhof [train station].  ... “In all honesty — I believe, it is my personal estimate, because I have been here day in and day out, that a quarter of the people I have met are not refugees.
"I have met people from Morocco and from Algeria. I can discover that, because I speak their dialect too and I recognize the accent immediately. Yesterday, for example, two Egyptians came to me. I said to them: 'You are not Syrian; what are you doing?' — [They replied] 'Yes, it’s now or never, get into Europe free. It’s now or never.'”

At Serbia's border with Hungary--the golden door into the E.U.--authorities confirm many Europeans' worst fears:
A Pakistani identity card in the bushes, a Bangladeshi one in a cornfield. A torn Iraqi driver's licence ... Documents scattered only metres from Serbia's border with Hungary provide evidence that many of the migrants flooding Europe to escape war or poverty are scrapping their true nationalities
... Serbian border police say that 90% of those arriving from Macedonia,  about 3000 a day, claim they are Syrian, although they have no documents to prove it. ... "You can see that something is fishy when most of those who cross into Serbia enter January 1  as the date of their birth," border police officer Miroslav Jovic said. "Guess that's the first date that comes to their mind."

"A lot of people enter Turkey with fake Syrian papers because they know that they'll get asylum in the EU more easily," [Frontex chief] Fabrice Leggeri said. In Germany, customs have intercepted packages mailed to Germany containing Syrian passports, both genuine and counterfeit, the finance ministry said.

... Among those who had no second thoughts about ditching their true identity was Rafik from Pakistan. "I'm leaving my old life behind," Rafik said,  as he dashed under the fence into Hungary. "I'm starting a new one. I don't have a passport, nor any other identity paper. Let's see which country they will choose to kick me back to."

b) Opportunists

Sweden's and Germany's open call--'we'll take in as many refugees as come'--has unsurprisingly led to a stampede of opportunists. Hoping their tales of woe will open the gates of the richest countries on the planet, they're setting out from all corners of the globe:

West Africa, though not at war, is a prime source:
Senegal is a stable West African democracy, and Kothiary [Village] has profited from the currents of globalization transforming rural Africa’s more prosperous areas. Flat screen TVs and, increasingly, cars—mostly purchased with money wired home by villagers working in Europe—have reshaped what was once a settlement of mud huts.
The wealth has plugged this isolated landscape of peanut farms and baobab trees into the global economy ... But it has also put European living standards on real-time display ... “People don’t go because they have nothing, they go because they want better and more,” said [Immigration Minister] Mr. Diop. “It’s aspiration.”

A surprising number have come from the admittedly violent and poor, but not at war, Pakistan:

They have left good jobs back in Karachi, Pakistan, and now want to be Europeans. In late July the three slipped into Germany with their wives and children, using illegal documents. They live together in a five-bedroom house, rented for them by Chancellor Angela Merkel’s government, a 40-minute drive away from Giessen, which is home to the biggest migrants’ camp in the country.
...‘When I lost my job, I set out [from Karachi] with six friends,’ he says. ‘There is every nation in the camp — a lot from Pakistan, like me. I chose Germany because they want us here.’ ... I point out that Karachi, despite the political violence there, is not in a war zone. ‘My children deserve a better life than in Pakistan,’ says Atif. ‘They will grow up happy in Germany.’

Mama Merkel's siren song has been heard as far away as Afghanistan, where teenagers are now leaving by the busload:

The winding road to Germany starts on the outskirts of Kabul, at the Ahmad Shah Baba bus depot. This is where some of the youngest and poorest Afghans hoping to migrate to Europe gather each day to leave. If they carry a backpack at all, it is usually slack, with little inside.
Some have begun hearing that there is one country eager to have them. “I am trying to go to Germany,” Abdul Javed, 16, said after buying a bus ticket.  Until last year most of the teenagers headed toward Nimruz wanted to go no farther than Iran, to seek work as laborers. But these days, the province is better known as the first stop on the path to Europe.

The same is true of young people in conflict-torn Iraq:
At Ali Hussein's juice stand [in Baghdad], decorated with plastic bananas, they're squeezing oranges on old brass presses. ... Several of his friends just passed by to say farewell. They heard that German Chancellor Angela Merkel was welcoming Iraqis. "Each one said, 'I'm traveling,' 'I'm traveling,' 'I'm traveling,' " says Hussein. All want to be smuggled to Europe.

      International--Calais, France

'The Jungle'--4000-strong illegal alien tent city near UK border

At this lawless migrant encampment at the France-UK border, an international crew of opportunists tries to sneak into Britain daily. A British Muslim charity has just announced it is pulling aid from the 'Jungle' camp in Calais, France, after a surprising visit:
A crisis relief charity chief is set to pull the plug on aid to the Calais ‘Jungle’ camp after discovering most people there are economic migrants ‘without any reason’ to leave their home country. The Bradford-based Human Relief Foundation has been running a project to help the ‘refugees’ at the makeshift camp and previously claimed they were all ‘fleeing war and significant atrocities.’ But a visit by a team led by Kassim Tokan, the HRF deputy chief executive, discovered a totally different picture on the ground, with unwanted clothing and food being ‘dumped and burnt’ by the migrants.

An intrepid Daily Mail journalist near the camp finds out a surprising truth:
An Iranian migrant photographed using a crow bar to try to break into the back of a Dover-bound lorry told how he had only just been deported from Britain. The man, who also refused to be named, said: ‘I lived in Birmingham for four years but then they put me in a detention centre and sent me to Italy. ‘I have come straight back here from Italy and I will get back to England. In England they gave me benefits and a home. Here I have nothing.’

   Syria itself

Even those fleeing Syria--without a doubt a war-ridden hellscape--have begun to leave a strange taste in their hosts' mouths. Via John Derbyshire, we hear of this Syrian couple who decided to have a baby in the middle of a war, sneak into Europe, and country-shop their way to Austria:
While many migrants want to go to Germany, Saloukha says Austria was always his first choice, perhaps because he loves classical music. "Yeah. It was my dream to maybe hear a recital or watch an opera in the Vienna Opera House, the best venue for classical music in the world. It's a nice place to raise a child, very calm. And yeah - people are here - are laid-back, a bit like us."

c) Fake Christians

In Berlin, Iranians and Afghans are reported to be converting to Christianity to gain asylum bids:

Hundreds of mostly Iranian and Afghan asylum seekers have changed faiths at the evangelical Trinity Church in a leafy Berlin neighbourhood alone. ... Most said their decision was based on belief, but one young Iranian woman said she was convinced most people had joined the church only to improve their chances for asylum [Christians are persecuted in their countries].

... As other churches across Germany struggle with dwindling numbers of believers, Pastor Martens has seen his congregation swell from 150 just two years to more than 600 parishioners now – with a seemingly unending flow of new refugees finding the way to his congregation.  Some come from cities as far away as Rostock on the Baltic Sea, having found out by word-of-mouth that Martens not only baptises Muslims after a three-month 'crash course' in Christianity, but also helps them with asylum pleas.

d) Terrorists

ISIS has publicly stated their plans to send as many terrorists as possible among the waves of refugees. Hungary has already arrested 'Ahmed' and 'Yacir' at their border, after other migrants recognized them as terrorists from back home:

According to Hungarian police, Ahmed H. is implicated in over fifty murders. Witnesses said he had a reputation as a 'butcher, torturer, notorious assassin.'  After further investigation, police have discovered the presumed terrorist, far from being an unfortunate refugee, owns a house in Cyprus, a boat, five cars, and just put down 90,000€ on a second home.
Norway has made similar finds:
Norway’s police intelligence unit PST (Politiets sikkerhetstjeneste ) has found between five and 10 terrorists among every 1,000 refugees approved by the United Nations (UN) to be sent to Norway. Among them are young men and women recruited by both the brutal Islamic extremist group IS and rival terror organization Al Qaida.

One of the terrorists behind Tunisia's Bardo Museum attack (21 dead) managed to slip into Italy on a 'refugee' boat, reported cops soon after.

The German secret service is already warning of extremist recruitment happening under their nose:
Meanwhile, the head of German intelligence, Hans-Georg Maaßen, was warned that radical Muslims in Germany are canvassing the refugee shelters looking for new recruits. He said: "Many of the asylum seekers have a Sunni religious background. In Germany there is a Salafist scene that sees this as a breeding ground. We are observing that Salafists are appearing at the shelters disguised as volunteers and helpers, deliberately seeking contact with refugees to invite them to their mosques to recruit them to their cause."

Having seen the 'why' and the 'who,' let us examine some reasons Europeans are becoming skeptical of these asylum-seekers' good faith.

III) Refugee complaints

'You must take in these people,' Europeans are told, 'because they're fleeing for their lives!' The implication is that blowing up or beheading awaits if we don't let them in straight away. But the litany of complaints to which their hosts have been subjected--especially by the Sub-Saharan African contingent--has raised some eyebrows.  Tour d'horizon:

1) Italy

Italy has been flooded with Sub-Saharan 'refugees' since Qaddafi disappeared and the Libyan sea route opened up. Despite being housed and fed at taxpayer expense, these migrants have complained to anyone who will listen, and when not listened to, have made their unhappiness known via flinging mattresses out windows (Naples), blocking traffic with furniture (Alcamo), blocking traffic with bicycles (Trapani), blocking a highway via human chain (Capo Rizzuto), throwing their food on the ground, and slashing the tires of the camp's personnel (Belluno).

Among their complaints:

2) France

France, like Italy, has mostly been receiving 'refugees' from Sub-Saharan Africa. But unlike Italy, France is crawling with government-funded NGOs who've been thrilled to take the huddled masses under their wing and teach them about the French national sport--protesting.  Thus, France's newest charges have already locked themselves into their lodgings, held refugee center volunteers hostage, gone on hunger strikes, and staged public marches at employment agencies, the Italian border (trying to get in), the UK border (trying to get out), and in front of the Foreign Ministry as well as the Parliament.

Among their complaints:

3) Germanics

As for those visiting the Germanic and Nordic lands, they are more likely to be Arab (mainly Syrian), Afghan, or Pakistani-- most likely to be actually fleeing combat.  To their credit, they have not yet grumbled as loudly or publicly as their Sub-Saharan counterparts in Italy and France. Yet for 'war refugees,' some of their complaints have raised their hosts' eyebrows (even the Interior Minister's). Among them:

A sit-in and threatened hunger strike got these irritated Arabs back to the big city:
Some 40 asylum-seekers refused to leave the bus when they arrived at their destination in rural northern Sweden, demanding that they be taken back to Malmö or "some big city". When the transport arrived at a housing centre in Grytan south of Östersund the asylum-seekers didn't like the look of what they saw. "I am 75-years-old and come from the Middle East. Then I get sent to a place that looks like this," said a man from Syria to the local Östersunds-Posten daily, pointing to the icy road. "It is dangerous for me to be here," he said.
Iraqi refugees, however, give the entire country of Finland two thumbs down:

Hundreds of predominantly Iraqi migrants who have travelled through Europe to reach Finland are turning back, saying they don't want to stay in the sparsely-populated country on Europe's northern frontier because it's too cold and boring.
"You can tell the world I hate Finland. It's too cold, there's no tea, no restaurants, no bars, nobody on the streets, only cars," 22-year-old Muhammed told AFP in Tornio, as the mercury struggled to inch above 10 degrees Celsius (50 Fahrenheit) on a recent blustery grey day. Another group of around 15 Iraqi refugees waiting at the bus station that Tornio shares with its Swedish twin town Haparanda also said they wanted to go back to southern Sweden. "Finland is no good," the men echoed each other.

We have thus seen that a majority of 'refugees' entering Europe seem to be economic migrants, and that the grousing is beginning to rub their hosts the wrong way.  But let us come to even more serious matters: Violence and intimidation.

IV) Refugee crime

In countries that already suffer disproportionate crime from their Muslim minorities, citizens are on high alert for more of the same. Are their fears founded?

1) Crime among asylum-seekers

Large encampments of mostly young men, of varied ethnies and religions: All it takes is one spark. Germany in particular has suffered a rash of refugee brawls. In  Leipzig:
A mass brawl involving up to 200 refugees erupted in a German asylum seeker shelter after a young Syrian girl was allegedly threatened with a knife by a teenage Afghan boy. ... Refugees fought each other with bars, table legs and bed frames on Thursday evening, forcing German Red Cross staff to flee.

Two female workers were injured in the chaos, with one breaking a knee cap after falling as she tried to escape, while the other suffered from shock. ... Refugees also turned on security staff and soldiers standing guard in the hall, although they were not injured, according to police. ... A huge contingent of officers was finally able to bring the situation under control.

In Calden:
The chaos started at lunchtime Sunday when a 19-year-old Albanian cut in the food line at the town’s new tent city, prompting a reprimand from a 43-year-old Pakistani. Pushes degenerated into punches. Soon, 300 migrants wielding pepper spray and metal pipes were attacking each other in rival mobs. ...  More than 50 police officers struggled for hours to restore order, with three hospitalized with injuries.

In Hamburg:
The violence on Wednesday allegedly erupted following a disagreement over the shower facilities, according to a witness. Afghan and Syrian refugees fought against each other, with some wielding iron bars ripped from beds, according to the fire service. Around 50 police officers were needed to bring the situation under control.

The Netherlands too have hosted such conflicts, such as this one near Utrecht:
According to RTL news, a dispute over a game of football led to the first fight. Forty police officers and four dog handlers were involved in breaking up the fights, a police spokesman told the Volkskrant. ‘It was a serious breach of the peace,’ he said. At least two refugees were wounded and taken to hospital and two others were arrested for their role in the disturbances.

Especially disturbing has been violence targeting religious minorities, such as in Brandenburg:
Said [an Iranian Christian] is living in an asylum centre in southern Brandenburg, near the border with Saxony. “They wake me before dawn during Ramadan and say I should eat before the sun comes up. If I refuse, they say I’m a kuffar, an unbeliever. They spit at meThey treat me like an animal. And threaten to kill me.… They are also all Muslims,” he adds.

...Or in Hemer:
At a refugee shelter in Hemer, a town in North Rhine-Westphalia, 10 Algerian asylum seekers attacked a Christian couple from Eritrea with glass bottles. The Muslims said they were angry that the man was wearing a cross. They ripped the cross from his neck and stole his money and cellphone.

...Or a near-lynching in Suhl:
At least 17 people were injured at an overcrowded German refugee shelter [in Suhl, Thuringia] after one resident tore pages out of a Koran.  ... He was eventually saved by the shelter's guards which prompted the mob - according to local media mainly Syrian men - to turn their anger on the camp's security team.
More than 50 men armed themselves with steel rods and began throwing rocks at guards and policemen. In the violence today, migrants smashed car windows, ransacked buildings and demolished the walls which divide the shelter in the rampage which lasted several hours.

The Gatestone Institute has collected a dizzying number of such incidents directly from the local German press, including, in just the last two months, violent clashes at refugee centers in

France has been no stranger to violent inter-migrant conflict, particularly in the Calais 'Jungle,' in June between Eritreans and Sudanese, in September between Afghans and Sudanese, and again between Ethiopians where 150 tons of donated clothes were set on fire.

Sexual violence among migrants has also been widespread, as reported in this letter from a German NGO working in Hess:
It must be stated clearly that these are not isolated incidents. Women report that they — and also children — have been raped and otherwise sexually attacked. That is why many women sleep in their street clothes. Women report that they do not go to the toilet at night, because rapes and sexual attacks have happened there and in the sanitary facilities. Even during the day, moving through the camp is frightening.

From a leaked report on a refugee center in Erfurt, Germany:
It is routine for men to urinate in whatever corner they find. In the sleeping accommodations it has become a daily occurrence that single women are being urinated on by male persons from other countries, even as the women are sleeping. Sexual harassment occurs daily.

From a report on the refugee center at Bayernkaserne, near Munich:
Women and girls are subject to rape and forced prostitution on a daily basis, according to women's rights groups. Although the facility has separate dorm rooms for women, the doors cannot be locked and men control access to the sanitary facilities. Approximately 80% of the refugees/migrants at the shelter are male, according to Bavarian Broadcasting (Bayerischer Rundfunk), which reports that the price for sex with female asylum seekers is ten euros. A social worker described the facility this way: "We are the biggest brothel in Munich."

2) Violence towards their hosts

Aside from violence among themselves, the current waves of asylum-seekers are also committing an alarming number of crimes against their hosts.

'The 'Jungle' in Calais, France, is an especially disturbing example. It is the result of a pile-up of thousands of African aliens at the border, all aiming for the U.K.  As the French government keeps its head in the sand, both Calaisiens and truckers are, understandably, at the end of their rope.

When there is a ferry strike, hapless truckers become easy prey:
Drivers stuck in long tailbacks could only watch as would-be stowaways smashed wing mirrors and used knives and crowbars to break into the rear of vehicles. ... Steve Williamson sat helplessly as five migrants scrambled on to the top of his lorry, sliced through the roof with knives and lowered themselves inside. ... ‘I come through Calais twice a week and it is getting worse every time. They have hurled rocks at my lorry, damaging it, and threatened me with iron bars. If something doesn’t happen somebody will end up getting killed.’

Migrants have also climbed onto trucks after throwing objects on the roadway (video at link) as well as tried to storm the Eurotunnel on foot:
At least 2200 illegal migrants tried to storm the Channel Tunnel in a bid to reach Britain from France, it has been revealed. In one of the worst security breaches in the history of the undersea link, huge gangs broke through security fencing in Calais in the early hours.  A French police source described the scenes as 'absolute pandemonium' today. ... Transport chiefs have estimated that Britain’s freight industry is losing some £750,000 pounds a day because of the problems.
Part of the heavy financial toll is because tons of pharmaceuticals and fresh produce must be destroyed when sealed cargo trucks are breached. Things have gotten so out of hand that a stowaway app has been launched to let truck drivers warn each other of incidents.

In addition to stopping traffic, breaking into trucks, and attacking drivers, these migrants have made life hard for Calaisiens. One senior citizen who lives across from 'the Jungle' testifies she must barricade herself in her home after endless break-ins by her new 'neighbors.'  Residents were terrified by a recent late-night romp down the street smashing cars with iron bars and sabers. Police have had dozens of reports of  muggings, robberies, assaults, sexual harassment, and sexual assaults emanating from this migrant population, to the apparent indifference of the French government.

Groups of African illegals have also made themselves a nuisance in the south of Spain, where they sell contraband items on the beach and occasionally riot when arrested, or in Venice, Italy, where they also sell goods illegally as well as  block the sidewalks, urinate in the canal, and brawl.

Graver still have been those bent on doing bodily harm, such as the Ivoirian 'refugee' in Sicily who robbed and murdered an elderly couple in their home, or the Eritrean in Sweden who, angry about his asylum rejection, stabbed to death two random shoppers in Ikea (using the store's own display knives).

As far as the migrants in transit overland, witnesses have seen disturbing scenes. At the Austrian-Italian border a few weeks ago, Polish travel writer and 'world citizen' Kamil Bulonis told a harrowing tale:
Half an hour ago on the border between Italy and Austria I saw a huge crowd of immigrants. With all solidarity to people in difficult circumstances, I have to say that what I saw aroused horror. ... I saw an elderly Italian woman in a car that was surrounded by the immigrants. They pulled her by the hair out of the car and wanted to use it to go to Germany. They tried to topple the bus I was in. They threw feces at us, banging on the door for the driver to open it, spat on the glass.
... A car with humanitarian aid came. Food and water. They just toppled it and stole everything. They broke into the French bus – everything was stolen in a short time. Never in my short life have I had an opportunity to see such scenes. Among them there were almost no women and children – the vast majority were aggressive young men. Just yesterday I read the news on all the websites with real compassion, worried about their fate, and today after what I saw I am just afraid. (Polish original here)

And finally, just in, an unconfirmed report on Czech TV from a Czech doctor working at a Munich hospital:
In a hospital near the Rhine, migrants attacked the staff with knives after they had handed over an 8-month-old on the brink of death, which they had dragged across half of Europe for thee months. The child died in two days, despite having received top care at one of the best pediatric clinics in Germany. The physician had to undergo surgery and two nurses are laid up at the ICU. Nobody has been punished. The local press is forbidden to write about it, so we know about it through e-mail.

3) Sexual crime towards their hosts

With a 'refugee' population of upwards of 75% single men, one of Europeans' fears has been that of sexual aggression. This fear has been far from unfounded.  Asylum-seekers have sexually assaulted not only fellow migrants in refugee centers, but also members of the host population.

A snapshot:

Three men requesting asylum in Almere are suspected in the assaults of as many as five women in the Flevoland city. One of the cases involves an 18-year-old woman attacked overnight at a taxi stand by the men, believed to be residents of the asylum reception center there, ...  A father of one victim said the men, “did not clearly understand that Dutch women are not pleased by being sexually assaulted after a night out."
  • Fiuggi, Italy: In a refugee center for minors, three young Egyptians gang rape the center's director then sack the establishment.
  • Calais, France: A 15-year-old suffers an attempted gang rape by migrants on a city street, a passing car disperses them.
  • Calais, France:  A 17-year-old is thrown against a brick wall near her home by a group of migrants who grope her, then flee.
  • Calais, France: A 20-year-old suffers an attempted rape at the train station by a migrant, her attacker flees and is at large.
  • Calais, France: A woman is groped by an Eritrean migrant near a public beach, he is caught by police. Witnesses say he had been trawling the beach ogling women all day.
  • Nice, France: A Somalian teen rips the clothes off and tries to rape a passerby near the train station, is chased and caught by other passersby.
  • Valais, Switzerland:  An Eritrean refugee is sentenced to 4 years prison after attempting to rape a 13-year-old girl near the public pool.

The Gatestone Institute has gathered a number of recent incidents from the local German press:
  • Hamm, Germany: Two Iraqi asylum-seekers rape an 18-year-old behind a school.
  • Heilbronn, Germany: A 14-year-old boy is raped at the train station by a 'dark-skinned man' of 'Arab appearance.'
  • Bad Kreuznach, Germany: Two Somali asylum seekers are sentenced to seven-and-a-half years in prison for raping a 21-year-old woman.
  • Munich, Germany: A 30-year-old Somali asylum seeker called 'Ali S' is sentenced to four years and nine months in prison for attempting to rape a 20-year-old woman.
  • Dresden, Germany: A 30-year-old Moroccan man is sentenced to four years and nine months in prison for attempting to rape a 55-year-old woman.
  • Munich, Germany: A 25-year-old Senegalese asylum seeker attempts to rape a 21-year-old woman in the city center.
  • Straubing, Germany: A21-year-old Iraqi asylum seeker is sentenced to three years and ten months in prison for raping a 17-year-old girl at festival.
  • Alzenau, Germany:  A 29-year-old asylum seeker is arrested for the attempted rape of a 14-year-old girl.
  • Kirchheim, Germany: Two Afghan asylum seekers aged 19 and 20 are sentenced to five years in prison for the 'particularly abhorrent' rape of a 21-year-old woman.
  • Stralsund, Germany: A 28-year-old Eritrean asylum seeker is sentenced to four years in prison for raping a 25-year-old woman.
  • Reisbach, Germany:  A 27-year-old Somalian asylum seeker is  arrested after attempting to rape multiple women.
  • Dresden, Germany:  A 24-year-old Moroccan immigrant rapes a 29-year-old woman.

In addition to the above cases, several rapes and attempted rapes are attributed to 'Southerners,' the media's euphemistic way of referring to dark-skinned foreigners. There is no way to know if these men are asylum-seekers; we add them nonetheless as pieces of possible evidence. These all come from the sole month of August, 2015:

  • Dortmund, Germany (Aug. 23): A 'dark skinned' man attempts to rape a 35-year-old woman.
  • Ansbach, Germany (Aug. 17): Three male 'southerners' attempt to rape a 42-year-old woman.
  • Hannover, Germany (Aug. 12): A male 'southerner' attempts to rape a 17-year-old girl.
  • Kassel, Germany (Aug. 12): A male 'southerner' exposes himself to a 31-year-old woman.
  • Siegen, Germany (Aug. 8): A male 'southerner' attempts to rape a 20-year-old woman.
  • Chemnitz, Germany (Aug. 3): A 'North African' rapes a seven-year-old girl in broad daylight in a public park.
  • Stuttgart (Aug. 1): A male 'southerner' attempts to rape a 27-year-old woman downtown.

This numbing litany of violence has been largely kept out of the international and even local press where possible, because, to quote the head of Germany's ZDF (public channel), 'We don’t want to inflame the situation and spread the bad mood. [The migrants] don’t deserve it.'

V) Indigenous protests

Though asylum-seekers were greeted in Munich and Berlin with weeping, applause, pastries, balloons, and choirs, not all of Europe has opened their arms so readily.

1) Eastern Europe

We've noted before that those who once lived behind the Iron Curtain seem somehow immune to the ethno-masochism of the Anglo-Germanic. From heads of state to church leaders to the man on the street, Eastern Europeans are Just Saying No.

First, by refusing the EU's demand for refugee quotas:
Leaders of the four-member Visegrad Group — Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia — met on Friday [Sept. 4], announcing afterwards that they would only accept voluntary settlement schemes.  “Any proposal leading to introduction of mandatory and permanent quota for solidarity measures would be unacceptable,” they said in a joint statement.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, the only EU leader to take control of his borders during the recent chaos, in recent Sate of the Union Address:

Why are we quarrelling with Europe? A Europe which requires its half a billion citizens to respect its laws is unable to persuade migrants to undergo a simple registration process. Brussels’ policies and the great powers made the situation even worse when they proved to be unable to grasp the root of the problem, and saw people who are clearly illegal economic migrants as being refugees.
As a result, we find that our borders are in danger, our way of life based on respect for the law is in danger, and Hungary and the whole of Europe are in danger. What is happening now is an invasion; we are being invaded.

66% of Hungarians seem to agree, stating that the current refugees are a 'threat to the country.'

Czech leaders have been just as skeptical:
The Czech president, Milos Zeman, compared the flow of refugees to a tsunami. The people, according to him, are largely economic refugees, who should be immediately deported. The Muslim immigrants are especially dangerous, because there are terrorists among them. Czechia did not “invite” these people. And, facing the immigrants themselves, he added, bluntly and harshly: “If you do not want to adhere to the rules we have, then go away.”

As for the man on the street?
81% of Czechs are strictly against acceptance of refugees. That is tops in the EU.

Slovakia's head of state has refused quotas in no uncertain terms:
"When Germany or France says something we should not bow down and repeat the same thing. We also have our own opinion," [Prime Minister Robert] Fico told reporters. "We say no to mandatory quotas. I don't want to wake up one day and have 50,000 people here in this country about whom we know nothing; I do not want to take responsibility for any attack that may occur only because we underestimated something."

Poland (as well as  Slovakia) has also indicated it would prefer only Christian refugees, and 70% of Poles are opposed to EU quotas.

While in Rome the Pope has harangued the West into opening doors wide, Eastern Europe's Christian leaders have been more cautious:

On Monday, the [Catholic] church’s spiritual leader for southern Hungary — scene of some of the heaviest migrant flows anywhere in Europe — had a message just as clear: His Holiness is wrong. “They’re not refugees. This is an invasion,” said Bishop Laszlo Kiss-Rigo, whose dominion stretches across the southern reaches of this predominantly Catholic nation. “They come here with cries of ‘Allahu Akbar.’ They want to take over.”

Further east, the Holy Synod of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church:

In a 700-word statement on September 25, signed by Bulgarian Orthodox Church head Patriarch Neofit and other members of the Synod, the church said that repeatedly in recent months, the question had been asked what its position was on the “so-called ‘refugee problem'”. ... “In recent months we have witnessed a wave ... which has acquired all the signs of an invasion,” the Holy Synod said. "... we believe that our government should never allow into our country any more refugees”.

2) Mediterraneans

In the Mediterranean climes, where the 'refugee' stream from Africa has been flowing for a few years now, patience is in many places at an end.

Residents of a Roman suburb this summer:
Chairs and rocks were thrown at policemen as angry residents protested the arrival of 100 refugees in Casale San Nicola, a suburb in the outskirts of northern Rome, on Friday. The coach carrying the migrants had to be escorted by an armoured police vehicle, but as it approached the protesters reacted violently, hurling rocks, chairs and abuse at the police. Fourteen policemen were injured in the clashes and two protesters were arrested.

A similar reaction in Treviso:
Residents in the town of Quinto, outside Treviso, set mattresses, television sets and furniture on fire in protest at the resettlement, saying they did not want the migrants living nearby. They had seized the objects after breaking into the buildings, protesting against what they said was “an invasion”.  The migrants had to be transferred to a local army barracks for their own safety.

While leftist Prime Minister Renzi has toed Brussels' line, regional governments have offered strong resistance:
Italy’s Lombardy region has joined Veneto in refusing a request from the Italian government to find emergency housing for the country’s migrant influx. Roberto Maroni, the president of Lombardy and founder of the anti-immigrant Northern League, was quoted by TGCom24 as saying, “We do not want an invasion”. The Veneto region has also shut the door on migrants, with its president Luca Zaia saying there are are “no places" for them.

"It is an absolute disgrace that the government, instead of repelling the invasion of clandestine immigrants, thinks to appropriate thousands and thousands of beds, giving in to the invasion," said senator Maurizio Gasparri from the centre-right Forza Italia party.

The Lombardy regional government has gone so far as to vote on penalizing hotel owners who knowingly put up asylum-seekers--in direct defiance of the prime minister.

A note: If protests haven't been even stronger, it may be because the immigrant crisis has been hugely profitable for the Mafia:
"We closed this year with turnover of  [$50 million], but ... our profits all came from the gypsies, the housing emergency and the immigrants," [mafioso] Buzzi reportedly said in a [tapped] phone call.

And as in Eastern Europe, some Western clerics have begun to raise their voice in protest: (h/t Parrado Segura)

The Archbishop of Valencia, Cardinal Antonio Cañizares, sparked controversy on Wednesday when he questioned whether welcoming refugees to Spain from Syria was such a good idea. "What’s happening in Europe?" the Catholic bishop asked. "This invasion of immigrants... are they completely trustworthy? Where will it leave Spain in a few years? ... We must be clear headed and not let everyone in, because today it could be someone who gets along very well, but it is in fact the Trojan horse for European societies and specifically Spain."

3) Germanics

Though the Germanics have opened their arms widest for the flood of asylum-seekers, the vote is not unanimous. In Wertheim:
A sports hall, which had been prepared to be used as residence for up to 400 refugees and migrants, caught fire late Saturday night. ... "No more refugees can come to Wertheim, since we now have no other place where they can stay," says Baden-Württemberg's fire chief Hermann Schröder.

In  Dresden:
Up to 1,000 protesters have clashed with police in eastern Germany in riots reportedly sparked by the arrival of 250 migrants. Peaceful demonstrations began after news spread that the town was welcoming a large number of refugees who are set to be housed in an empty building. The protest was hijacked by a group of far-right radicals, ...
Police said protesters shouting "foreigners out" and carrying banners against the "asylum flood" threw bottles and stones at busloads of asylum seekers arriving in Heidenau, near Dresden. At least 31 officers were hurt in violent scuffles as police used tear gas to disperse crowds.

In Germany alone there have been nearly 500 attacks (arson, vandalism) on refugee housing just this year.

In the Netherlands, protests have been calmer:
Meanwhile in Purmerend north of Amsterdam and in the Brabant town of Oudenbosch, there were protests by locals about decisions to set up refugee centres, broadcaster Nos said. In Purmerend a town council meeting had to be cancelled as dozens of locals packed into the council chamber shouting ‘no azc’ (asylum seekers centre). Police were called to remove them from the building.

As in Finland:
More than 500 people with Finnish flags have formed a symbolic human wall across a road in the border town Tornio in northern Finland to protest against the arrival of migrants from Sweden. Local police said Saturday the demonstration in Tornio, which is the sole entry point for migrants arriving from Sweden, had been peaceful. A formal registration center for refugees is scheduled to open in the town of 22,000 Tuesday. Tornio sits just south of the Arctic Circle.

The European Migrant Crisis is not winding down--it is only beginning. The UNICEF Middle East chief  has warned that Europe may face 'millions and millions' of new Syrian arrivals in the near term. On the African side, France's military intelligence chief claims there are now 800,000 to a million (mostly economic) migrants waiting in Libya to make the illegal crossing, with, according to Gallup, half a billion more who dream of coming to the West.  As for the Arab Spring, taking into account the instability in not just Syria but Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen, and Libya, the Hungarian Foreign Minister has predicted up to 30-35 million potential migrants ready to answer Mama Merkel's call.

In our brief press round-up, we hope to have shared both numbers and anecdotes which give a fuller picture of the migrant crisis as it is, not as we would like it to be.  The generous and charitable spirit of so many Europeans has, unfortunately, been taken advantage of by throngs of the zerangi-spirited, such as the Egyptian scammers quoted above by the Moroccan translator in Vienna 'Yes, it’s now or never, get into Europe free. It’s now or never.'

The Syrian refugee crisis is real, brutal, and must be dealt with sagely. The UN High Refugee Council (UNHCR) does laudable, thankless work, year in, year out, helping desperate refugees the world over. If our charitable impulse is real and we want to use it wisely, we should increase our funding of their efforts (as well as those of the UN World Food Program) so that Syrians fleeing into Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq can live more like this and less like this.

Cultural clash is a real threat. Large Muslim colonies have been a terrible burden on their hosts in Germany, France, Sweden, the Netherlands, and the UK (see our work on the question here, also Gates of Vienna, Sweden Report, and Gallia Watch). Muslim refugees, like all refugees, should be housed in countries as religiously, ethnically, linguistically, and culturally close to themselves as possible. In addition, your donated charity dollar can buy that refugee a good deal more in a Middle Eastern country than it can in uber-expensive NW Europe.

As for the 75%-90% of aliens entering Europe who are not directly fleeing combat, they should of course be promptly sent home.  Turning away 100% of boats has stopped all migrant deaths off the coast of Australia; a high-quality wall in Israel has cut down African illegal migration to almost zero.

We close with former Czech president Vaclav Klaus:

These politicians, lead by Herr Gauck and Frau Merkel, presume that out of these migrants will immediately emerge motivated, intelligent, educated and employable skilled workers, who then will replace aging German employee. It is a laughable assumption. It stands in gross opposition to each and every experience that Germany has had in the past with migrants and guest workers.

What happened that was so important that precisely now 40% of the migrants who came to Bavaria last weekend, came from Kosovo? The war ended in Kosovo 15 years ago. And why did another 40% immigrate from Afghanistan, where all armed conflicts have been going on in one way or another for the past few decades? It is not as if the living conditions have suddenly dramatically changed in any way in these migrants’ respective homelands. But they did get — explicitly and implicitly — a message. A message that they now can immigrate to Europe.

Watch this space.
